Course Trainings at Seeds of Hope

1. WRAP

(Wellness Recovery Action Plan)

Funding is currently available to run WRAP Groups for several Communities, though the most common is the Regular WRAP.  It is free to be in a WRAP group.  Several new WRAP groups will be offered in June, some depending on funding.  Current WRAP groups are full.   Our two trained Advanced Level Facilitators have facilitated over 20 WRAP groups, directly positively impacting on hundreds of individuals and indirectly thousands of others.

WRAP Groups at Seeds of Hope are normally 8 weeks, with each weekly meeting being 2 hours and 15 minutes.  Upcoming WRAPs will be held an various weekday afternoons, evenings as well as on weekends.   Occasionally we will have the 18 hour WRAP done over three days (eg. three Sundays – from 10:00 till 5:00).  Course dates will be mentioned in a few weeks.

WRAP groups are focused on wellness.  Over 3 million participants have significantly benefited from their WRAP experience by enriching their overall wellness and making healthier lifestyle choices.  WRAP has been offered in all 50 USA States and in over 20 countries.  Most WRAP groups do have a Mental Health or Addiction component.   All graduates of the WRAP experience can attest to that fact that everyone could benefit from being in a WRAP group.

Others WRAP Groups are for:

  • ADHD
  • Anxiety & Depression
  • Bipolar
  • Caregivers
  • Physical Impairments
  • Cultural Communities
  • Diabetes

2. WRAP Facilitator Training

(WRAP Level 2)

This intensive training course provides an experiential learning environment based on mutuality.  Both co-facilitators for this program are experienced Advanced Level Facilitators, through the Copeland Centre in the USA.  Participants in this course will have completed an 18 hour WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) course, ideally over three months prior to this training course. Participants will be able to  demonstrate their own experience with WRAP.   The course will allow participants to gain the necessary skills and experience to effectively Facilitate a WRAP group.  Seeds of Hope prides itself in offering an inclusive and safe environment that helps to foster the development of WRAP Facilitators that are empathetic, authentic and with high regard for all.

Mentoring will be available to graduates of the course, at no charge,  for the six months following the training.  Assistance will also be given to help Facilitators with their first WRAP.

Peer support is emotional and practical support between two people who share a common experience, such as a mental health challenge or illness. A Peer Supporter has lived through that similar experience, and is trained to support others.Feb 16, 2018.
Peer Support Canada - CMHA National
Definition of Peer Support Peer support is social emotional support, frequently coupled with instrumental support, that is mutually offered or provided by persons having a mental health condition to others sharing a similar mental health condition to bring about a desired social or personal change (Gartner & Riessman, 1982) http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.520.62&rep=rep1&type=pdf
Peer Support also has benefits for peer support workers themselves, increasing levels of self-esteem, confidence and positive feelings that they are doing good. Peer-support workers often experience an increase in their own ability to cope mental health problems. https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/a-to-z/p/peer-support
